Details Rose Cottage is a fine example of a traditional Cotswold stone cottage. Built for a wealthy merchant in 1720 [the date is above the front door] it has commanding views across the Toadsmoor Valley. It has been renovated and extended to incorporate modern comforts into its period charm and now sleeps up to 13 in 5 bedrooms with 3 shower rooms and 2 bathrooms. It is, however, at its most comfortable for parties of 10. The village of Bisley is largely unchanged, architecturally, from its heyday in the early 18th century but remains relatively undiscovered and so very quiet. With 2 good pubs, a shop and a church, it is a jewel of a village: as quintessentially English as it is possible to get. Ground Floor Open plan double sitting room, complete with an inglenook fireplace, mullioned windows, seats overlooking the garden, old beams and antique furnishings to evoke the spirit of 1720 when the cottage was built. Comfy seating around the fire, TV, DVD player, CD player, books, games and music all contribute to total relaxation. The dining room, simply furnished with antique French country furniture is great for gatherings. The lovely family kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances: a double oven range cooker; American style fridge/freezer; dishwasher; microwave; washer/dryer: everything plus all the pots, pans and utensils necessary to cater for a house full of guests. First Floor Spiral stairs lead up from the sitting room to the first floor. Bedroom 1: 2 zip and link beds, so suitable for singles or a couple. Bedroom 2: 2 zip and link beds, so suitable for singles or a couple. This has an ensuite shower room. Bedroom 3: 2 zip and link beds, so suitable for singles or a couple. This has an ensuite bathroom with a roll top bath. Bedroom 4: 2 zip and link beds plus a further single, so suitable for singles or a couple with a child. Top Floor Bedroom 5: Double bed with an ensuite bathroom. Additional sleeping There is a double sofa bed in the sitting room and a ground floor shower room with a loo and basin. Outside Set in a sunny garden that faces south and overlooks the stunning scenery of the Toadsmoor Valley. |
