The South Cotswolds, and the Five Valleys in particular, while equally as stunning as their more famous Northern cousins, have an interesting and added dimension to their appeal: the impact of trade and industry. The Wool Trade flourished in these parts for centuries. The innovations of the first Industrial Age were embraced by local artisans keen to take advantage of modernisation and invention. With increased production came greater wealth and a flurry of building large, impressive, comfortable and imposing homes as testaments to success. Thanks to this tide of prosperity we have a legacy of many wonderful, period properties both domestic and industrial.
